Residents of Xiangbai Township in Wangkui County, Heilongjiang Province faced water supply difficulties. The area lies in a water-poor region, and during dry spells, the output of source wells drops sharply, limiting supply. The water source is in Guli Village, 6 kilometers from the villagers' Dawujing Village, and the pipeline passes through a secondary pumping station in Xiaowujing Village for regulation and pressurization. The long distance and multiple transfer points further strain supply during dry periods. Some households' private wells produce muddy water unfit for safe drinking.
In response, local authorities increased the original twice-daily supply to three times daily by the end of May, with precise scheduling. Professional teams were hired to lay pipelines for direct household tap water access, with installation completed by end of May. Additionally, the township is coordinating with county water and development authorities to integrate the village's water system into the Huizhen Town large-scale water supply project to tackle the root cause of groundwater shortage.
A temporary supply guarantee mechanism has been set up, with dedicated personnel inspecting equipment three times daily and optimizing dispatch. A resident reported that the water access situation has improved and the pipeline has been connected.
