A concert titled 'People First' took place at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing on the evening of June 29 to celebrate the 105th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China. About 3,000 audience members were present, including Party and state leaders Xi Jinping, Li Qiang, Zhao Leji, Wang Huning, Cai Qi, Ding Xuexiang, Li Xi, and Han Zheng.
At 7:55 p.m., Xi Jinping and other leaders entered to cheerful music, drawing warm applause. The performance began with a children's chorus singing 'Sing a Folk Song to the Party,' and unfolded across five movements.
The first movement included pieces such as 'Ode to the Red Flag' and 'To the Forefathers,' honoring revolutionary martyrs. The second movement featured songs like 'Yingshanhong,' 'Sweet Osmanthus Blossoms in August,' 'Ode to the Yellow River,' and 'The Sky of the Liberated Areas,' recreating scenes from the revolutionary war era. The third movement, 'Colorful Homeland,' brought together works like 'Cracking the Whip to Speed Up Grain Transport,' 'By the Butterfly Spring,' 'Laundry Song,' 'Spring in the Fields,' 'I Offer Oil to My Motherland,' and 'Sunshine Over Tashkurgan,' depicting development during the socialist construction period. The fourth movement, 'Fields of Hope,' reflected changes since reform and opening-up through classic songs. The fifth movement consisted of 'Joyful Song of Mountains and Waters,' 'Heart to Heart,' 'Love Across Mountains and Rivers,' and 'Never Failing the People,' building to a climax.
At the conclusion, the audience joined in singing 'Without the Communist Party, There Would Be No New China.'
Other attendees included members of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, members of the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee, vice chairmen of the Central Military Commission, vice chairpersons of the NPC Standing Committee, state councilors, the president of the Supreme People's Court, the procurator-general of the Supreme People's Procuratorate, and vice chairpersons of the CPPCC National Committee. Also present were senior officials from central Party, government, military, and mass organizations, and the Beijing municipality; leaders of central committees of other political parties and the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce; representatives of individuals without party affiliation; recipients of medals and honors; veteran Party members and cadres; foreign experts working in China; representatives of grassroots Party members and the public in Beijing; and representatives of troops stationed in Beijing.
