The State Council Executive Meeting approved the 15th Five-Year Plan for National Health on June 29. The plan sets forth the objectives and strategic tasks for national health work during the 15th Five-Year Plan period.
A full-life-cycle health service system will be established, with coordinated resource distribution and strengthened synergy among medical services, medical insurance, and disease control to deliver systematic, continuous, and high-quality care. The health industry will be vigorously developed through improved support policies, cultivation of new service formats, and expanded supply of health products under strict quality and safety supervision.
China has built the world's largest medical service system, disease prevention and control system, and medical security system. Average life expectancy has reached 79.25 years, with key health indicators ranking among the top of upper-middle-income countries. The plan charts a roadmap for health development, addressing new challenges from changing disease profiles and meeting public demand for high-quality health services.
