The Ministry of Ecology and Environment reviewed environmental impact assessment documents for construction projects submitted between May 18 and July 12, 2026, and issued approval decisions, which were made public on July 13. The three projects do not include marine engineering or nuclear and radiation-related facilities.
Among the approved projects, the EIA report for the Rizhao Port transformation and upgrading project was approved on May 21. The report for the South No. 3 berth and liquefied tank area project at Gulei operation zone of Xiamen Port was approved on June 19. The new project for the first phase of the No. 1 open-pit mine and coal preparation plant in the Kumtag mining area in Xinjiang, with a designed capacity of 5 million tonnes per year and submitted by Hunan Energy Group's Xiangmei Xinjiang Energy Development Co., Ltd., received approval on July 7.
The announcement period runs from July 13 to July 19, 2026, lasting seven days. Individuals or organizations that disagree with the decisions may apply for administrative reconsideration to the ministry within 60 days after the announcement period, or file an administrative lawsuit in court within six months.
