In 2026, the 'Best of Shaanxi Grain and Oil' promotion was held in Beijing, displaying a full range of grain and oil products including deep-processed items. The event was hosted by the Shaanxi Provincial Grain and Material Reserve Bureau.
Wang Zhijun, chief engineer of the bureau, said the Guanzhong Plain produces over 4 million tonnes of wheat annually, while the northern Shaanxi plateau yields distinctive coarse cereals like Yan'an millet and Yulin buckwheat, many with green, organic, or geographical indication certifications. These underpin Shaanxi's efforts to deepen supply-side structural reform in grain and expand brand value.
Wang Zhenzhong, chairman of the Coarse Cereals Branch of the China Grain Industry Association and the Beijing Grain Industry Association, noted that Shaanxi's grain and oil products meet current consumer demand for healthy diets. Jing-Shaan cooperation will build a long-term mechanism for regular production-marketing matchmaking, joint branding, and standards co-development to ensure stable and sustained flow of Shaanxi grain to Beijing. He stressed that linking production and sales through regional collaboration is key to building a platform and brand system that boosts rural revitalization.
The State Council's 15th Five-Year Plan for Accelerating Agricultural and Rural Modernization calls for improving R&D for agricultural product processing, strengthening on-site processing infrastructure, developing intensive processing and comprehensive utilization, cultivating leading enterprises, and adding value along the chain from field to table.
