The 14th issue of Qiushi Journal, to be published on July 16, 2026, will feature an important article by Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, Chinese President, and Chairman of the Central Military Commission, titled 'Speech at the Gathering Celebrating the 105th Anniversary of the Founding of the Communist Party of China.'
The article highlights that over its 105-year history, the CPC has led people of all ethnic groups in achieving major accomplishments including the New Democratic Revolution, socialist revolution and construction, reform and opening up and socialist modernization, and socialism with Chinese characteristics in the new era, forging an immortal epic in Chinese history. This journey has fundamentally changed the destiny of the Chinese people, charted the correct path toward national rejuvenation, demonstrated the strong vitality of Marxism, profoundly influenced the course of world history, and tempered a robust Party organization.
On the fundamental reasons for the Party's success, the article attributes them to six distinctive qualities: pursuing truth to maintain the correct direction, rooting in the people to secure a solid foundation, courageously undertaking the historical mission to grasp strategic initiative, keeping pace with the times to stand in the vanguard, daring and adept at struggle to keep unwavering confidence, and strengthening self-building to sustain vigor and vitality. The article states these qualities are the key to understanding why the CPC has been able to succeed, and they must be continuously promoted in new practices to ensure the Party's nature remains unchanged.
The article further outlines requirements for fulfilling the Party's missions and tasks in the new era and new journey. All Party members must remain confident and keep striving; uphold the Party's basic theory, line, and policy; maintain overall Party leadership and centralized, unified leadership of the CPC Central Committee; thoroughly implement the Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era; strengthen confidence in the path, theory, system, and culture; and uphold fundamental principles while breaking new ground. It is imperative to rely on the people to create historical achievements, practice a people-centered development philosophy, fully stimulate people's enthusiasm, initiative, and creativity, and coordinate the implementation of the Five-Sphere Integrated Plan and the Four-Pronged Comprehensive Strategy. The new development philosophy must be applied fully and accurately, the construction of a new development paradigm accelerated, and high-quality development steadfastly advanced.
In confronting risks and challenges on the journey ahead, the article stresses the need to enhance awareness of potential dangers, adhere to bottom-line thinking, promote the fighting spirit, better coordinate domestic and international situations, and balance development and security. On external affairs, it is necessary to continuously promote the building of a community with a shared future for mankind, hold high the banner of peace, development, cooperation, and mutual benefit, advocate common values of humanity, and advance the implementation of the Global Development Initiative, Global Security Initiative, Global Civilization Initiative, and Global Governance Initiative, injecting more positive energy into world peace and development.
In Party building, the article emphasizes the need to persevere in exercising full and rigorous governance over the Party, implement the Party-building thought for the new era, improve the system for full and rigorous Party governance, advance all aspects of Party building under the leadership of political building, resolutely fight the tough and protracted battle against corruption, and continuously enhance the Party's political leadership, ideological guidance, mass organization, and social appeal, ensuring that the Party remains the strong leadership core in the historical process of upholding and developing socialism with Chinese characteristics in the new era.
The article concludes with a caution to the whole Party: despite the glorious 105-year history, there must be no complacency or halt. All Party members must never forget the original aspiration and mission, remain modest, prudent, and hardworking, dare and be adept in struggle, and rely on and unite the people across the nation to forge ahead on a new journey and create new historical glories.
