A promotion event for Xi Jinping: The Governance of China Vol. 5 took place in Bishkek on July 13, attended by around 300 representatives from political parties, media, and think tanks in China and Kyrgyzstan. Participants discussed topics including Chinese modernization, a community with a shared future for mankind, global governance initiatives, the Belt and Road cooperation, and exchange among civilizations.

Attendees widely agreed that the book systematically explains the theory and practice of Chinese modernization and presents China's vision for building a community with a shared future for mankind. It serves as an authoritative work for understanding Chinese modernization and contemporary China, and provides a guide for deepening governance experience exchange and strengthening development strategy alignment between the two countries.

The volume collects 91 reports, speeches, talks, etc., by President Xi Jinping from May 2022 to December 2024, showcasing the latest achievements in adapting Marxism to the Chinese context. The Roza Otunbayeva Initiative International Public Foundation has collaborated with China to translate and publish the first three volumes in Kyrgyz, with the fourth volume's translation completed and publication underway.

Foundation founder and former President Roza Otunbayeva noted that China did not copy other models but explored a development path suited to its national conditions, and the series helps understand China's development logic and direction. Social activist Emilbek Kaptagaev, involved in the translation, said the process gave him a more comprehensive understanding of China's development in the new era, emphasizing China's correct handling of history and combination of universal modernization laws with national conditions, which is worth studying.

Karabek Syyagul, a journalist from Kabar News Agency, read sections on China-Central Asia relations and saw the book as a roadmap for deepening cooperation, guiding both sides to move forward together. State Secretary Arslan Koichiev highlighted the topic of adapting Marxism to the Chinese context, saying China's experience in this area is the most successful and the book is worth intensive study.

Chinese Ambassador to Kyrgyzstan Liu Jiangping stated that China is implementing its 15th Five-Year Plan to advance modernization, while Kyrgyzstan is following its National Development Strategy until 2030. He said sharing governance experiences is timely, and China is willing to share practices in poverty reduction, rural revitalization, high-quality development, and green transition.

Former Foreign Minister Alikbek Dzhekshenkulov noted that the book illustrates China's development logic through efficient state governance, and Kyrgyzstan is ready to participate in high-quality Belt and Road cooperation, focusing on projects like the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway. Chamber of Commerce and Industry President and former Prime Minister Temir Sariev hopes the two countries can strengthen mutual learning of governance practices and expand new cooperation areas.

This year marks the 25th anniversary of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, with Kyrgyzstan holding the rotating presidency, and the SCO summit will be held in Bishkek. SCO Deputy Secretary-General Piao Yangfan said the volume includes President Xi's important speeches on building a China-Central Asia community with a shared future and an SCO community with a shared future, pointing the way for deeper regional cooperation.

At the 2022 SCO Samarkand summit, China pledged 2,000 free cataract surgeries for SCO nationals, and since 2023 over 1,000 have been performed in Kyrgyzstan. The director of the National Hospital noted each surgery brings family happiness. In May, Ruijin Hospital invited the Kyrgyz National Hospital to an SCO medical academic conference, promoting medical cooperation among member states.

Director of the Institute of World Politics Sheradil Baktygulov was struck by the book's message of jointly realizing modernization with all countries, saying building a Kyrgyzstan-China community with a shared future is the main thread of cooperation. Bishkek State University's rector noted President Xi's advocacy for civilizational dialogue and said the university is co-establishing a historical research center with China, hoping to contribute to a community with a shared future.

China has been Kyrgyzstan's largest trading partner and source of investment for many years, with bilateral trade reaching $27.2 billion in 2025.
