On July 14, 2026, a meeting focused on cooperation in information and communication technology and the digital sector took place in Beijing between Li Lecheng, Minister of Industry and Information Technology of China, and Abdullah Alswaha, Minister of Communications and Information Technology of Saudi Arabia.
Li noted that China-Saudi Arabia relations are at their best in history, with a solid foundation and huge potential for bilateral cooperation in information and communication technology and digital fields. He expressed that the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology is willing to strengthen policy experience exchanges with the Saudi side in areas such as digital infrastructure and artificial intelligence, and to fully leverage each other's industrial advantages.
He added that the two sides should encourage and support enterprises from both countries to engage in practical cooperation, further enriching the connotation of the China-Saudi Arabia comprehensive strategic partnership.
Alswaha highly commended China's achievements in information and communication and digital sectors, stating that Saudi Arabia is willing to explore cooperation with China in talent cultivation and capacity building, jointly creating favorable conditions for mutually beneficial and win-win cooperation between the two countries in these fields.
Alswaha also mentioned that Saudi Arabia welcomes more Chinese enterprises to invest in the country and continuously deepen cooperation in areas such as submarine cables and cloud computing.
The meeting was also attended by heads of relevant departments and affiliated institutions of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, as well as representatives from Saudi government departments and the Saudi Embassy in China.
