The WP4A and WP4C working groups under ITU Radiocommunication Sector (ITU-R) Study Group 4 held an ad hoc meeting in Geneva, Switzerland, from July 6 to July 10, 2026. The meeting aimed to accelerate preparations for space-related agenda items of the 2027 World Radiocommunication Conference (WRC-27).

In-depth deliberations focused on WRC-27 agenda item 1.5 (restricting unauthorized earth station operations) and agenda item 1.13 (new frequency allocations for direct-to-handset satellite services). Draft texts of the Conference Preparatory Meeting (CPM) for both items were updated, achieving phased progress.

A Chinese expert served as chair of the drafting group for spectrum coexistence studies under agenda item 1.13, leading the preparation of a compatibility sharing study report. The Chinese delegation actively participated in discussions and contributed to the further refinement of the CPM texts.

The Chinese delegation comprised 21 representatives from 8 organizations including relevant departments under the State Council, research institutions, and enterprises. They participated in a mix of in-person and virtual formats.
