China and Seychelles marked the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations on June 30, 2026, with an exchange of congratulatory messages between President Xi Jinping and President Hemenie.

In his message, President Xi noted that over the past five decades, the two countries have consistently trusted each other and rendered firm mutual assistance, making their friendship rock-solid. He expressed confidence that as long as both sides uphold the original aspiration of establishing diplomatic ties and move forward together, the path of bilateral relations will grow ever broader and the prospects for cooperation will be brighter.

Xi said he attaches great importance to the development of China-Seychelles relations and is ready to work with President Hemenie to take this anniversary as a new starting point to carry forward traditional friendship. The two sides will deepen mutually beneficial cooperation within frameworks such as the high-quality Belt and Road Initiative and the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC), promote common development, and continuously elevate the China-Seychelles strategic partnership to new heights for the benefit of both peoples.

President Hemenie stated that over the 50 years, Seychelles-China relations have developed steadily on the basis of mutual respect, mutual trust, and common development. He described China as a valuable partner that has provided considerable support to Seychelles in improving people's livelihoods and achieving national development goals. He also reaffirmed Seychelles' firm commitment to the One-China Principle and its willingness to continue strengthening cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative and FOCAC frameworks to further deepen bilateral ties.
