General Secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and President Xi Jinping proposed a four-point vision for building a China-Cambodia community with a shared future during a meeting with Cambodian People's Party President and Senate President Hun Sen at the Great Hall of the People on the morning of June 26.
Xi first congratulated the Cambodian People's Party on its 75th anniversary. Noting that China and Cambodia have opened a new chapter in building an all-weather community with a shared future since April last year, he said mutual trust has been strengthened, cooperation in various fields deepened, and traditional friendship has taken on new meaning for the era.
On advancing bilateral ties, Xi stressed the need to show commitment amid changes and uphold the right path in the face of chaos. He proposed: first, cement the foundation of strategic mutual trust, elevate the level of trust, and deepen party-to-party exchanges and sharing of governance experience; second, pursue a steady path of development and revitalization, make substantial progress on the “Industrial Development Corridor” and the “Fish and Rice Corridor,” fully unleash the potential of the China-Cambodia Free Trade Agreement, and strengthen the public support for friendship; third, safeguard long-term stability and security of both countries, establish a security partnership, and highly commend Cambodia's resolve and actions to wipe out telecom fraud, while continuing to work together to eliminate this “cancer”; fourth, set an example of strategic coordination, appreciate Cambodia's adherence to the one-China principle, and strengthen coordination to uphold good neighborliness and win-win cooperation in the region.
Hun Sen fully agreed with Xi's assessment of the ironclad friendship. He thanked China for supporting Cambodia's development path suited to its national conditions, socio-economic development, and core interests. He stressed that Cambodia will always adhere to friendship with China, firmly uphold the one-China principle, and resolutely support China's efforts for complete national reunification and opposing “Taiwan independence.”
Hun Sen further emphasized that eradicating telecom fraud is a priority for Cambodia, and the country is ready to closely cooperate with China in law enforcement against such crimes. He expressed firm support for and readiness to jointly implement the four major global initiatives proposed by President Xi. The Cambodian People's Party is willing to work with the Communist Party of China to implement the new party-to-party exchange and cooperation memorandum, contributing to the building of the China-Cambodia community with a shared future.
Wang Yi attended the meeting.
