China and Bangladesh elevated their bilateral relations to a community with a shared future in the new era on June 26. The announcement was made during a meeting between President Xi Jinping and Bangladeshi Prime Minister Tarique Rahman at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing that morning, as part of Tarique's official visit to China.

During the meeting, Xi stated that China has always attached great importance to its relations with Bangladesh and adheres to a good-neighborly and friendly policy for all Bangladeshi people. He emphasized that regardless of changes in the international situation, China will unswervingly maintain the direction of friendship with Bangladesh and remain a trustworthy friend, good neighbor, and reliable partner. Xi expressed support for Bangladesh in safeguarding national independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity, and opposed any external interference. He also expressed willingness to strengthen exchanges on governance experience, enhance strategic communication, and continue mutual support on issues concerning each other's core interests.

On cooperation, Xi highlighted China's policy of building amicable, secure, and prosperous neighborhoods and its commitment to providing new opportunities for neighboring countries through China's development. China supports the smooth administration of Bangladesh's new government and aims for high-quality Belt and Road cooperation, including deeper alignment of development strategies and planning of key projects. Xi specifically mentioned tapping cooperation potential in green and low-carbon development, digital economy, information technology, and artificial intelligence, while advancing exchanges in healthcare, culture, education, and at sub-national levels. He also called for advancing the China-Myanmar-Bangladesh economic corridor and strengthening regional connectivity. Xi further expressed willingness to enhance communication and collaboration with Bangladesh within multilateral frameworks such as the United Nations to jointly promote an equal and orderly multipolar world and a universally beneficial and inclusive economic globalization, safeguarding the legitimate rights and common interests of both countries and the Global South.

Prime Minister Tarique congratulated the Communist Party of China on its 105th anniversary. He said that China holds an important position in Bangladesh's foreign policy and is a valued and trusted partner, expressing pleasure at the elevation of relations to a shared future community. Tarique praised China's great development achievements under President Xi's leadership, describing Chinese modernization as a model for Bangladesh to learn from. He expressed hope for strengthening party-to-party exchanges, jointly building the Belt and Road, and deepening cooperation in trade, connectivity, agriculture, science and technology, green energy, education, and health to support Bangladesh's modernization.

On the Taiwan issue, Tarique reaffirmed Bangladesh's firm commitment to the One-China principle, stating that Taiwan is an inalienable part of China's territory. He opposed any form of "Taiwan independence" and resolutely defended the authority of UN General Assembly Resolution 2758. He also voiced full support for President Xi's vision of building a community with a shared future for mankind and the four global initiatives, and expressed willingness to strengthen coordination with China in international and regional affairs to jointly uphold the outcomes of World War II and the UN-centered international order.
