Data released on June 30 shows that China added 6,173 new registered renewable energy generation projects (excluding residential photovoltaic) in May 2026.

Commercial distributed photovoltaic projects dominated the additions, totaling 6,097. There were 39 utility-scale photovoltaic projects, 27 wind power projects, and 10 biomass power projects.

Guangdong led among regions with 3,974 commercial distributed PV projects, far ahead of Jiangsu's 466 and Shandong's 225. Wind power additions were mostly in Hebei, Shanxi, Shandong, Liaoning, Fujian, Hubei, Shaanxi, and Gansu.
