Internationally, the 10th Ministerial on Climate Action (MoCA) took place in Brussels, Belgium, from June 22 to 23 local time. Minister Huang Runqiu co-chaired the meeting with representatives from the EU and Canada. Subsequently, the 11th China-EU Environmental Policy Dialogue was held on June 23 at the same location, co-chaired by Huang Runqiu and Jessika Roswall, European Commissioner for Environment, Water Resilience and a Competitive Circular Economy.
On policy and regulatory fronts, the Beautiful China Construction National Action Promotion Plan (2026-2030) was recently jointly issued by six departments including the Ministry of Ecology and Environment, the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee, the Central Social Work Department, the Ministry of Education, the Communist Youth League Central Committee, and the All-China Women's Federation. Meanwhile, two technical documents were released: Technical Guide for Constructed Wetland Treatment of Rural Domestic Sewage for Resource Utilization and Technical Guide for Hidden Danger Investigation and Rectification of Soil and Groundwater Pollution at Key Regulated Units (HJ 1478-2026). Responsible officials from relevant departments answered press inquiries about these documents.
The ministry also held its regular press conference on June 25, where Jiang Huohua, director of the Department of Water Ecology and Environment, introduced efforts to advance river and lake protection and governance across the region. Additionally, the ministry published national ambient air quality status for May 2026.
