The first 19 typical cases of China-Europe energy cooperation were unveiled at the 4th China-Europe Energy Technology Innovation Cooperation Forum. The forum took place in Chengdu, Sichuan from June 24 to 26, 2026, with participants including representatives from the UK, Iceland, Finland, France, Germany, Spain, Austria, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Italy, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, and the EU, as well as representatives from Chinese and European energy companies, industry organizations, and research institutions. Concurrently, theme days for the UK, Iceland, and Finland were held, along with sub-forums on hydrogen, smart energy, energy storage, wind power, and biomass energy, and technical site visits were organized.
The forum released a series of outcomes on green electricity international recognition, including the 'RE100·China Green Power Park' initiative, the Green Power Certification International Cooperation Innovation Consortium, and the 'Green Power (Zero-Carbon) Park Green Power Supply Solution Collection'. These outcomes focus on green electricity consumption, the connection between green electricity and green certificates, zero-carbon park construction, and alignment with international rules, aiming to enhance green electricity consumption through multiple channels, facilitate the international certification of green electricity, reduce supply chain decarbonization costs, support corporate green procurement, carbon accounting, and low-carbon supply chain cooperation, and promote the coordinated development of China-Europe green industrial and supply chains.
The 19 typical cases cover key areas such as hydrogen energy, energy storage, smart energy, and offshore wind power, showcasing the practical achievements of the China-Europe energy technology innovation cooperation platform over the years and providing replicable and scalable practical experience for enterprises of both sides to deepen technological alignment and expand project cooperation.
The forum also announced a new batch of outstanding member units of the cooperation network and intended enterprise cooperation projects, and established a biomass energy working group, further expanding the platform's cooperation areas, enriching the project pipeline and cooperation mechanisms, and continuously injecting new momentum into China-Europe energy technology innovation cooperation.
Clean energy technology innovation, industrial and supply chain collaboration, and green electricity consumption and international mutual recognition were the key topics of this forum. Participants highly recognized the forum's outcomes and agreed that as global energy transition accelerates, China and Europe, as important global economies and leading forces in energy technology innovation, should strengthen policy communication, technical exchanges, and practical cooperation, deepen collaborative innovation across the entire clean energy chain, enhance the resilience and security of energy systems, and jointly inject more stability and certainty into the global green and low-carbon energy transition.
Keynote reports at the forum focused on cutting-edge topics such as DC technology innovation practices and sustainable grid modeling and analysis, providing technical support for building a new type of power grid that accommodates a higher proportion of renewable energy.
