The sixth meeting of the energy ministers of Shanghai Cooperation Organization member states was held in Kyrgyzstan on June 19. The meeting was hosted by Kyrgyzstan, and Song Hongkun, Deputy Director of China’s National Energy Administration, attended and delivered a speech.

During the meeting, the parties adopted texts on cooperation in energy conservation and energy efficiency, as well as on energy system collaboration. After the meeting, the participating representatives signed summary records.

Song Hongkun stated in his speech that China is the world’s largest energy producer and consumer and continues to participate in energy cooperation under the SCO framework. He noted that China is committed to enhancing regional energy security levels and accelerating the green and low-carbon transition. He also expressed China’s willingness to work with all member states to strengthen the energy security barrier, deepen exchanges in scientific and technological innovation, reinforce talent cultivation collaboration, and bring regional energy cooperation to a new level.

During his stay in Kyrgyzstan, Song Hongkun held bilateral meetings with representatives of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan, among others, and visited the Chinese Embassy in Kyrgyzstan. The head of the International Department of China’s National Energy Administration accompanied him in these activities.
